DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY

 

Since inception of the college in1974,   the Dept of History of the college has been a jewel to the crowns.  Ever since the department has been active in undertaking some extra useful workbesides regular class work. Earlier the department was composite in union with Economics and politics departments. The built-in area of the department is 25.7 Sq Mts. The subject is taught at undergraduate level in the college in Telugu & English media.

PIONEERS OF THE DEPARTMENT

Sri  K.V. S.S.S. Durga Prasad M.A was the first member in the department. He  joined as a lecturer in this college in 1977.  He also worked as Sub – Inspector in Excise Department A. P. At present he is working as Superintendent Ramachndrapuram, E.G.Dt

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of History has been established right from the inception of the college . Sri .K V.S.S. Durga Prasad  being the first Member of the department later Sri  A.S Bagarraju acted as HOD of the department. He acted as principal of college  and retired in the year 2009. Dr Satya Prasad Joined in the Dept as a lecturer in the year1979, He was Retired  fromhis services in the yeae2010.U.Vasu Deva Rao joined in the year 2006. Sri D.V.R.Srinuvas joined in the year 1999 as a lecturer in the department. He resigned his job in the year2018. Sri D.V .V. N .Prasad joined in the year 2019 as a lecturer now he was lecturer in charge of the department. Sri B.Venkateswara Rao   joined in the year 2020 as a lecturer in the department. All the members of the department are reputed for their eminence and scholarliness  and  their  contributions are substantial for the development of  the college. The untiring efforts of the well – accomplished Members of the faculty enabled to the  department to be reckoned as one of the prestigious department of the college.

FACULTY MEMBERS ACHIVEMENTS

1. A.S. Bangarraju M.A ,MPhil

  • He joined as a lecture on 16.11.1976 in this college. He did his M.Phil, on Kondavenkatappaiah in the year 1994 from Andhra University Visakhapatnam.
  • He worked as a member of board of studies ( U.G ) Andhra University Visakhapatnam during the year 2000 – 2003
  • He worked as counselor study centre Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University Rajahmundry.


 2. Dr. P. Satya Prasad,Reader in History

  • Sri Satya Prasad obtained M.A in Anicent History in Archaeology with first class and First Rank Andhra University (1977)
  • Secured Prof. Oruganti Ramachndraiah Shashtyabdi prize.Was awarded P.hd. for his thesis “Temple Society in Medieval Andhra Desa” by Andhra University(06.11.1990)
  • Dr. Satya Prasd contributed to “Chritra Nighantuvu” published by Telugu Academy, Hyderabad (1999)

3. D V R SRINIVASU

  • He participated in first phase of Janmabhoomi, programme in agency area Maredumilli and also acted as District Resource Person for the 15th phase of Janmabhoomi.
  • He conducted an N S S Mega Special Camp from 22.07.05 to 31.07.05 at Kodamnchili Village. (W.G.Dt).
  • He attended the UGC National Seminar on “RESERATION FOR WOMEN IN LEGISLATURE AND ITS IMPACT ON PROTECTION WOMEN’S RIGHTS”1st and 2nd  Dec 2010 at DNR GOVVERMENT COLLEGE for Women PLAKOLLU.

4. D V V  N Prasad and B. Venkateswara Rao

  • Our Department conducted the Society Out Reach Programme in “RAHUL OLD AGE HOME” Palakollu at18/11/2022
  • In 2022 the Dept  exhibited “WEST GODAVERI WOMEN FREEDOM FIGHTERS Photoshop” on the occasion of  the 75th Independence Day Celebrations.
  •  In 2020 , 2022 and 2023 respectively the Dept organized Historical Tours to Guntupalli Buddhist Caves, Amaravathi and Korangi Mada Forest.
  • Our Department conducts Certificate programmes every year

SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS  ORGANISED THE DEPARTMENT

  • Dr satya Prasad acted as seminar director for state level seminar on “New Perpectives on Higher Education- Role of Management And Faculty” on 10.04.2009
  • Our Department organized a two day National Seminar on “Women In Governece and Decession Makingi Post Independent India  on 23rd 24th October, 2009.
  • Our Dept organized a one day workshop on “Indian Heritage and Culture”(5.03.2024)
