DEPARTMENT OF TELUGU
The Department of Telugu was established right from the inception of the college in 1974. In the beginning the college was composite and later bifurcated into degree and junior college. Smt. Jyothi Kumari M. A. was the first member in the department. She resigned and joined in Goenka College Tadepalligudem. Later Sri V Sivarma Krishnayya joined in the department on 6th January 1976. The department was blessed with Smt. Sarada Devi but she served for a short period of six months. Subsequently Sri S N Raju joined in the Department. He worked for sometime in the department and later joined in Central University, Hyderabad. . Later Sri PBVS Adikesavi Swamy was appointed and worked for five years in the department. After bifurcation Sri PBVS Adikesavi Swamy assumed office as Principal for Junior college.
Sri R Rammohana Rao Joined in the department on 9th June1985 during which Special Telugu was introduced in B. A. programme under part II. Sri V Sivaramakrishnayya was awarded Ph. D in 1989 and Sri R Rmmohana Rao in 1998. Smt YVCH Leela Padmaja has rendered her service in the department for a period of 12 years. Later she was transferred to Raja RSSR Ranga Rao College Bobbili. Later Smt. M. Rajya Lakshmi joined in the department in the year 2000 and she was awarded Ph. D in 2010. Dr V. Siva Ramakrishnayya retired on 31st July 2007.
Sri R Rammohana Rao was awarded Best Teacher award by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh for his outstanding contribution in the field education. He was promoted as reader in the department in 2008. He successfully organized many National and International Seminars in Telugu and retired on 31-05-2018. Smt. M. Rajya Lakshmi shouldered the responsibility of the department. Later she left the college.
Later Sk. Adamsa joned in the department in the year on 18-02-2021. In the same year Sri K. Suresh Babu on 01-10-2021 and Sri K V Subba Rao on 03-10-2021 joined in the department as Lecturers. Since Sk. Adamsa was selected for Government service, he left the college on 26-09-2025. Subsequently Sri K. Suresh Babu became Head of the Department.
Every year the Department observes various days like “Mother Tongue Day”, “Telugu Language Day” etc. More over the department celebratesthe birth anniversaries of Legendary Poets in Telugu. The Department organized seminars on the literary works of contemporary Telugu poets. So far the department organized 18 such literary programmes. The department also organized seminars to cultivate the reading ability and passion for literature among the students. The department stands in forefront in organizing ‘Telugu Kavi Smmelanam” including various seminars and workshops in literature to enrich the student community.
