Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) has been constituted to empower and safeguard the rights of Women faculty members and girl students of the College. The WEC works to promote gender sensitivity in the College and conducts diverse programmes to educate and sensitize both boys and girls to produce harmonious atmosphere in the campus. It works for the welfare of the students and faculty for preparing them into competent professionals to take up greater challenges in the academic sphere. The cell also aims at creating awareness of their rights and duties. It also provides a platform for women to share their experiences and views regarding their status in the society and to suggest ways to improve and empower themselves. It mainly stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programmes and other welfare activities. WEC will step forward with specific objectives and plan of action by focusing quality activities for the well-being of girl students. WEC mainly creates awareness among the girl students and faculty to make the college campus a safe place for women students and faculty members. This cell creates a feel in them that our college campus is a haven and second home to them.

The Principal nominates the members of WEC. It organizes workshops, sensitization programmes, awareness programmes and other welfare activities.

OBJECTIVES:

• To promote a culture of respect and equality for women.
• To conduct guest lectures, seminars and workshops to impart knowledge of opportunities and tools available and train the women.
• To create a conducive counseling environment for women to share their problems.
• To sensitize the college community on the need for empowerment of women.
• To enable the College Community understand the role of everyone in empowering girl students.
• To help girl students understand their strength and potential.
• To educate girl students on women specific health issues and measures to be taken.
• To provide help in case of necessity round the clock.
